Government InformationThe Town of Cinco Bayou has a Mayor-Council-Manager form of government. The elected Mayor serves as chairman of the Council and presides over Council meetings. The Mayor has no vote except to break a tie. Five elected Council members, the governing body, elect a Mayor Pro-Tem from the Council to act as Mayor during the absence of the Mayor. If a vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor, the Mayor-Pro Tem shall become the Mayor for the completion of the unexpired term of the former Mayor. Mayor and Council terms are staggered two year terms with elections each year on a nonpartisan basis. The Town Council is responsible for formulating policies, enacting ordinances to carry out those policies, setting tax rates and preparing and adopting the annual General Operating Budget. The Town Manager/Clerk, appointed by the Town Council, is responsible to the Town Council for the administration of all Town affairs. The Cinco Bayou Town Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in Town Hall at 10 Yacht Club Drive, Cinco Bayou. All residents and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend. The meeting agenda, financial reports and information pertaining to matters listed on the agenda are available for review prior to the meeting. Copies are available on request. The Mayor and Council welcome citizen input at all public meetings. |
